With soloist Nu\u0161ka Dra\u0161\u010dek and conductor \u017diva Ploj Per\u0161uh, the LIO will celebrate the anniversary with a concert on 31 August at 8 pm in the Marjan Kozina Hall of the Slovenian Philharmonic.<\/p>\n\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"vc_row-full-width vc_clearfix\"><\/div><div id=\"ut-row-69e6a4b4f114f\" data-vc-full-width=\"true\" data-vc-full-width-init=\"false\" class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_row-fluid vc_column-gap-0 ut-row-69e6a4b4f1157\" ><div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\" ><div id=\"ut_inner_column_69e6a4b4f16ef\" class=\"vc_column-inner\" ><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\r\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\r\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\r\n\t\t\t<p>The concert will revive the memory of two giants of classical music who have always divided listeners and fans: Wagner and Brahms. In the 19th century, the dichotomy between Wagner and Brahms furiously divided progressives and conservatives. Wagner proclaimed that his music was the music of the future, while Brahms remained a stubborn classicist. Brahms' Symphony No. 4 never disappoints. It is full of dialogues, reflections, images of nature, it is full of feelings that are never resolved, it is an endless reflection on love and the meaning of life. It is said that this symphony is like an old, wise friend who always comes to cheer us up with a visit. The five songs by Mathilde Wesendonck were set to music by Wagner while he was working on Tristan und Isolde and, together with the Siegfried Idyll, are among Wagner's most frequently performed works.<\/p>\n<p>In ten years, the Ljubljana International Orchestra has brought together at least 800 musicians from 42 countries, performed in Slovenia, Italy and the United Kingdom and collaborated with renowned institutions such as the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Accademia Nazionale Santa Cecilia Rome, the Orchestre National Lille, the Philharmonie Sarajevo and others. The orchestra has been honoured by the participation of renowned soloists: trumpeter Reinhold Friedrich, violist Gilad Karni, violinist Michael Barenboim, violinist Gregory Ahss and cellist Konstantin Pfiz, double bassist Knut Erik Sundquist, violist J\u00f6rg Winkler, clarinettist Jo\u017ee Kotar, soprano Ur\u0161ka Breznik and tenor Alja\u017e Farasin as well as the director and composer Heiner Goebbels.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the first conductor and founder of the orchestra, \u017diva Ploj Per\u0161uh, the orchestra has been conducted by Klaus Arp, Uro\u0161 Lajovic, Carlo Rizzari, Domingo Hindoyan, Osvaldo Ferreira and Daniele Gatti. Since 2023, the Ljubljana International Orchestra has been based in Ljubljana, where its members travel from all over the world to prepare the programme over several days.
