Before that, the Knights\u2019 Hall will host an anniversary concert by the contemporary music ensemble\u00a0<em>MD7.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"vc_row-full-width vc_clearfix\"><\/div><div id=\"ut-row-6aecf6aa823c7\" data-vc-full-width=\"true\" data-vc-full-width-init=\"false\" class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_row-fluid vc_column-gap-0 ut-row-6aecf6aa823d1\" ><div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\" ><div id=\"ut_inner_column_6aecf6aa82a2f\" class=\"vc_column-inner\" ><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\r\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\r\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\r\n\t\t\t<div class=\"dc-text-paragraph\">\n<p>Mahler\u2019s Fifth Symphony, which will be performed tonight by <span id=\"dc-kw-match-520\" class=\"dc-kw-match\">The Ljubljana International Orchestra<\/span>, was written during a happier period of the composer\u2019s life, when, as conductor and artistic director, he was already the critically esteemed director of the Vienna Court Opera; in the same year, far from the public eye, he married the Viennese femme fatale Alma Schindler and dedicated to her, as a wedding gift, the lyrically refined Adagietto of this symphony.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"dc-text-paragraph\">\n<p>Tonight at Kri\u017eanke it will be heard in the interpretation of conductor Ferreira, founder and chief conductor of the Portuguese Philharmonic Orchestra, who, after completing his conducting studies in Chicago, continued his training at the St Petersburg Conservatory and also honed his skills in Salzburg and Berlin under the mentorship of Claudio Abbado, the Ljubljana Festival wrote.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"dc-text-paragraph\">\n<p>This year marks ten years since the founding of\u00a0<span id=\"dc-kw-match-1295\" class=\"dc-kw-match\">of the Ljubljana International Orchestra<\/span>, the cultural ambassador of the City of Ljubljana, which works under the artistic direction of\u00a0<span id=\"dc-kw-match-1387\" class=\"dc-kw-match\">\u017diva Ploj Per\u0161uh<\/span>. The orchestra brings together outstanding young musicians from more than thirty-five countries, who gain invaluable experience by playing in a symphony orchestra and, working with renowned professors, conductors and soloists, strive together for the highest performance goals.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"dc-text-paragraph\">\n<p>The orchestra is also part of the European project Sounds of Change, which, by bringing people together in artistic creation, strives to put into practice the European Union\u2019s motto, United in Diversity.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"dc-text-paragraph\">\n<p>Before that, the Knights\u2019 Hall will today host a concert by the contemporary music ensemble\u00a0<em>MD7,<\/em>\u00a0which first stepped onto the concert stage 20 years ago and began to fulfil its mission. The idea of the newly founded ensemble is (was) to perform new (contemporary) music by Slovenian and foreign composers, where, for the Ensemble\u00a0<em>MD7<\/em>\u00a0, new means never heard before.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"dc-text-paragraph\">\n<p>For the anniversary concert of the ensemble, which worked under the artistic direction of Pavel Mihel\u010di\u010d and, since 2017, of Nenad Fir\u0161t, the programme features a selection from its repertoire of many high-quality works, and with the premiere of a new piece by Nenad Fir\u0161t it continues its mission at this concert too.
