Seung Eun Lee – Oboe

Seung-Eun Lee was born in 1970, Seoul/Korea and started oboe lessons at the age of 11. She graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree at Seoul National University in 1992. As a young oboist she has won competitions and given many performances with many orchestras in Korea.
In 1992 she came to Europe, studied with prof.Thomas Indermühle at the Musikhochschule Zürich in Switzerland (Konzertreife diploma ), with prof.Emmanuel Abbühl at the Rotterdam Conservatorium of Music and Dance in Holland ( Master & Soloist diplomas) and with prof.Maurice Bourgue at the Geneva Conservatoire de Musique in Switzerland( Diplom de
Concert ). She also studied at the Norwegian State Music Academy with prof. Erik Niord Larsen as a part-time student and was accepted at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London for the Advanced Instrumental Studies where she had lessons with Nicolas Daniel, Kiron Moor and Jane Marshall. She attended also for chamber music studying with prof.Renate Greiss-Armin at the Musikhochschule Karlsruhe and studied Baroque Oboe & ancient-music-praxis at the Musikhochschule Frankfurt with prof. Benoit Laurent in Germany.

Besides her studying at the music Universities, she attended master classes of prof.Stefan Schilli, prof.Francoise Lulex, prof.Christian Wetzel.

In October 2005 she was appointed as a Section Leader & Principal Oboe at the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra in Australia. During 4 years of her staying in Australia, she appeared at the Australian music scenery such as: double concerto with Nigel Kennedy at the Adelaide Festival, performing Strauss Concerto with Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, OzAsia Festival, and Contemporary Music Festival Adelaide. She also regularly gave performances at the Elderhall Lunch hour Concert Series, Australian Double Reed Society Conferences and many other music events. Beside her busy concert schedule she has taught oboe class and chamber music class at the Elderhall Conservatorium of Music, University of Adelaide.

Since 2009 she moved back to Europe, lives in Germany and teaches at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Mannheim. She continuously performs in many orchestras in Europe and Asia as a freelance musician. Over the course of her 30-years career as an oboist, she has been invited to many international music festivals & concert halls, such as: Lutoslawski Festival in London, Gergiev Festival in Rotterdam, Vivaldi Festival in Mexico city, Huatulco Music Festival in Mexico, Ljubljana Festival and Hanoi Contemporary Musik Festival and etc. Also as a chamber musician she worked with ” Quatuor de Francis Poulenc” in France, ASO Quintet
and ASO Wind Soloist in Australia. She is a founder of Trio d’anche SUAVE since 2004 and Trio Cornopia, Germany since 2017. Trio SUAVE’s first CD “Camino” was released in 2012.

Her great passion is to help young musicians, which leads her to give master classes and seminars in Spain, Slovenia, Croatia, Korea, Japan, China, Malaysia, Vietnam and Columbia including masterclass at Branmir Slokar Academy, tutor at Ljubljana International Orchestra Academy since 2012, guest professor ANAM in Australia and National Conservatory Zagreb
in Croatia. Discovering her love and passion for healing the world and helping humanity through her life path, she opens a new door and started coaching self-healing method and helping musicians & non-musicians through sound-meditation & breathing awareness.
