Appeal for help for the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine

Owing to the fighting in Ukraine, hundreds of thousands of people have to leave their homes. People are facing a humanitarian catastrophe in the middle of Europe. So far more than a million people have already fled across international borders. Many of them were able to take only what they could carry with them. The Slovenian Youth Orchestra (SMO) with conductor SNG Opera and Ballet Ljubljana, and artistic director SMO Živa Ploj Peršuh has responded to the urgent request for help from of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine (YSOU), led by the internationally renowned conductor Oksana Lyniv, who is also artistic director of the Teatro Bologna. SMO is working with the competent authorities, the City Municipality of Ljubljana and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as with the organisation YSOU from Ukraine, and is ready to help and to provide evacuation and initial humanitarian aid, as well as accommodation and further assistance in the event of a longer stay. We depend on donations to fund this care, so we urgently need your help.
