Festive Christmas concert of the Slovenian and British parliamentary choirs

Festive Christmas concert by the Slovenian and British parliamentary choirs, Saturday, 17 December 2022, at 7.30 pm in St Nicholas’ Cathedral in Ljubljana
You are warmly invited to the festive Christmas concert with which the British-Slovenian Chamber of Commerce, the British Embassy in Slovenia and the Imago Sloveniae Foundation will mark the 30th anniversary of British-Slovenian friendship. On this special occasion, the UK Parliament Choir and the Slovenian Parliamentary Choir Kvorum will perform together for the first time, accompanied by the combined orchestras of KGBL and Music for the Future.
The United Kingdom and Slovenia are among the few countries that can boast their own parliamentary choir. The two choirs bring together members and staff of both parliaments, united across traditional party lines by a love of choral singing. The UK Parliament Choir performs regularly across the United Kingdom and abroad. Among other things, they are regular guests on national radio and have been featured in The Guardian, on the BBC website and in The New Yorker.
The Slovenian parliamentary choir is called Kvorum, a name derived from the parliamentary term for a quorum, the prerequisite for taking decisions. Its varied repertoire includes classical Slovenian choral songs as well as Slovenian popular songs arranged for choir and foreign choral literature. The orchestra is made up of members of the Symphony Orchestra of KGBL and members of the Music for the Future, an artistic and humanitarian project of of the Slovenian Youth Orchestra and partners that enables young Ukrainian musicians to be safely evacuated to Slovenia and integrated into their new environment through music.
The Symphony Orchestra KGBL has been active since the conservatoire was founded in 1953 and serves to introduce students to orchestral playing and repertoire, while also giving the best of them the opportunity to perform as soloists. In 2014 the conductor and pianist Slaven Kulenović took over its direction, and he also prepared the orchestra for this concert.
Free admission.

* During the concert, voluntary charitable donations will be collected for Slovenska filantropija in support of Ukrainian refugees in Slovenia.
