Each year the Summer Orchestra Camp brings together around a hundred young Slovenian musicians in a large, ad hoc symphony orchestra. It is intended for musicians aged between 12 and 22 who are enrolled in music education.
Anyone can join, with no audition. Over a good week together, participants enjoy an unforgettable experience of meeting peers and role models, learning, making music, creating together and preparing for the grand finale: a performance on the main stage of Ljubljana's Križanke alongside top, internationally acclaimed soloists.
The young musicians rehearse for 6 hours a day, 3 hours in the morning (10:00 to 13:00) and 3 hours in the afternoon (16:00 to 19:00), and in the evenings they get together for social and musical activities. For the first three days, the mornings are devoted to sectional rehearsals and the afternoons to creative workshops.
On 23 August at 20:30, the final concert will take place at Križanke as part of the 71st Ljubljana Festival.
Instruments in this year's orchestra: violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone, percussion, timpani.
