Registration is open for the Summer Orchestra Camp 2023

This August the Slovenian Youth Orchestra is once again organising its Summer Orchestra Camp (POK) for young musicians aged 12 and over. POK is about inspiring a love of music, spending time with peers and discovering other arts such as theatre and expressive dance; we will tackle improvisation, refine our musical skills and prepare a symphonic concert programme, which we will present on 23 August at the 71st Ljubljana Festival.

This summer we will travel through music from Berlin to Broadway, together with one of musical theatre's most popular vocalists, Ute Lemper. Preparations for the concert will be supported by excellent mentors – Slovenian experts and music teachers as well as our successful musicians who have forged their careers abroad with renowned orchestras. All of them will be available for group preparation as well as for individual questions. We will also come together creatively in workshops such as theatre improvisation, musical improvisation, singing and body rhythm – creative movement.

For just over a week, from 16 – 23 August 2023, we will live, create and make music together at the St Stanislaus Institute in Šentvid.

The camp is an excellent opportunity for young musicians who want to spend the summer creatively among their peers, where we strengthen and encourage peer collaboration through making music, and where everyone, even the youngest participant, is welcome with whatever knowledge they have so far. Before the start of the school year, the camp and the encouragement of the spotlight at the magical Križanke are sure to be an excellent source of inspiration, enriching the participants and their parents and friends long into the school year.
