The first musicians of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine are already in Ljubljana

This morning 67 musicians of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine and their chaperones arrived in Ljubljana. Their evacuation was organised by the Slovenian Youth Orchestra.

95 people were expected, but only 67 arrived – musicians and their chaperones – as not everyone managed to get through. Those who travelled by car will try to reach Budapest today. As boys over 18 are not allowed to leave the country, only a few younger ones came; most of those who came were girls. They are staying in two Ljubljana youth hostels.

According to Nina Stankovič, public relations representative of the Slovenian Youth Orchestra, owing to complicated logistics and administration at the border, the two coaches set off from the western Ukrainian town of Chop on Sunday evening, although their departure had been announced for midday.
