The Ljubljana International Orchestra (LIO) letos praznuje deseto obletnico. S solistko Nuško Drašček in dirigentko Živa Ploj Peršuh bo slavnostno obletnico obeležil s koncertom 31. avgusta ob 20. uri v Dvorani Marjana Kozine v Slovenski filharmoniji.
The concert will revive the memory of two giants of classical music who have always divided listeners and fans: Wagner and Brahms. In the 19th century, the dichotomy between Wagner and Brahms furiously divided progressives and conservatives. Wagner proclaimed that his music was the music of the future, while Brahms remained a stubborn classicist. Brahms' Symphony No. 4 never disappoints. It is full of dialogues, reflections, images of nature, it is full of feelings that are never resolved, it is an endless reflection on love and the meaning of life. It is said that this symphony is like an old, wise friend who always comes to cheer us up with a visit. The five songs by Mathilde Wesendonck were set to music by Wagner while he was working on Tristan und Isolde and, together with the Siegfried Idyll, are among Wagner's most frequently performed works.
Orkester so s sodelovanjem počastili priznani solisti: trobentač Reinhold Friedrich, violist Gilad Karni, violinist Michael Barenboim, violinist Gregory Ahss in violončelist Konstantin Pfiz, kontrabasist Knut Erik Sundquist, violist Joerg Wikler, klarinetist Jože Kotar, sopranistka Urška Breznik in tenorist Aljaž Farasin ter režiser in skladatelj Heiner Goebbels.
