SMO at the Ljubljana Winter Festival @ Slovenian Philharmonic

On 23 February 2024, the Slovenian Youth Orchestra under the baton of Živa Ploj Peršuh, performed at the Slovenian Philharmonic their first concert of the season 2024closing concert of the 7th Winter Festival of Festival Ljubljana.

The violinist Rok Zaletel Černoš was accompanied by the orchestra.

Rok is the first Slovenian violinist to participate in the prestigious P.I. Tchaikovsky International Violin Competition in Moscow. He is currently continuing his master's studies under the mentorship of Prof. Meljnikov and completing his studies at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts, for which he is receiving a scholarship from the Municipality of Ljubljana.

The orchestra also included young Ukrainian musicians from the Music for the Future project, which is continuously supported by the Slovenian Youth Orchestra.

The programme, put together by Živa Ploj Peršuh, the orchestra's artistic director and conductor, together with members of the orchestra, includes:

Johannes Brahms: Variations on a Theme by Haydn in B-flat major, op. 56a
Henryk Wieniawski: Violin Concerto No. 1 in F-sharp minor, op. 14
Ludwig van Beethoven: Symphony No 3 in E-flat major, op. 55, "Eroica"
