As part of the humanitarian and social project Music for the future, we are delighted to announce its first symphony concert with the internationally acclaimed violinist Gidon Kremer, which will take place on 11 May 2022 at Cankarjev dom.
By attending the concert, you will support young talents, help other Ukrainian children and experience a unique concert event with the musical transcendence of one of the finest violinists in the world, Gidon Kremer.
Young musical talents from Ukraine will join forces with young musicians from Slovenia under the auspices of the Slovenian Youth Orchestra and Živa Ploj Peršuh, conductor and artistic director. The children and young people on stage will receive invaluable support from the soloist Gidon Kremer, the 75-year-old Grammy-winning violinist who ranks among the very top of art music. On this occasion, the organisers have joined forces with UNICEF Slovenia. Preparations for the concert took the form of masterclasses and workshops with renowned musicians from various European symphony orchestras, such as the Dresden Philharmonic, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Nuremberg Philharmonic and the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale, as well as numerous soloists.
The concert event is a demonstration and proof of the wish of children and young people from Ukraine to integrate into a new environment. Music strengthens interpersonal bonds and solidarity. It shows that it is possible to create together and to understand one another. The audience's support means that each of them is seen, listened to and heard, not only as young artists but as people with a future.
