Dario Ribeiro was born in Santa Maria da Feira, Portugal, in 1984.
He graduated from Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas under the guidance of
professors Paulo Guerreiro and Abel Pereira, having later completed a Masters Degree in Teaching at University of Aveiro. He has also been a active participant in Masterclasses with Stephen Dohr, Dale Clavenger, Fergus McWilliam, Froydis Ree Were, only to mention a few.
He was a member of Orquestra Clássica da Madeira, Orquestra de Câmara
Portuguesa, and had a trial with Remix Ensemble. Currently he is the section
principal horn of the Orquestra Filarmónica Portuguesa.
As a soloist, Dario has played with Orquestra de Jovens de Santa Maria da Feira, Orquestra Clássica de Espinho and Orquestra Clássica Madeira. As a guest, he has collaborated with the Orquestra Gulbenkian, Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa, Orquestra Nacional do Porto, Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Música, Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa, Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras, Orchestrutopica, Fundação Orquestra Estúdio, Orquestra Sinfonietta de Lisboa, Orquestra Clássica do Centro, amongst others.
Dario is a Horn Teacher at Coimbra Music Conservatory. He has taught
Masterclasses at Artes do Dão Conservatory, Costa Cabral Music Academy, Santa Maria da Feira Music Academy, International Music Festival of Pará (Brasil), Paredes Music Conservatory, and in São Jorge’s Island (Azores, Portugal).
Dario is a founding member of the Portuguese Horn Quartet, with which he was a prizewinner at the “24th Prémio Jovens Músicos” in the chamber music category (superior level), and at the 10th International Music Competition for Young Performers “Città do Chieri”.
