EUROPEAN PROJECT - SOUNDS OF CHANGE
Our Ljubljana International Orchestra Academy welcomed 63 musicians from 12 different nationalities who were selected through an open call for Sounds of Change, a Creative Europe project co-funded by the European Union.
This year’s educational programme was put together by LIO's own chief conductor, Živa Ploj Peršuh, in close collaboration with internationally renowned musicians who were invited to join the programme as music mentors.
Joining the selected emerging professional musicians were also youth musicians from the Slovenian Youth Orchestra (SMO) whose families were affected by the floods that hit the northern regions of Slovenia earlier in the month of August as well as Ukrainian youth musicians who were included into SMO activities since March 2022.
The invaluable experience of youth musicians and emerging professional musicians rehearsing and performing side-by-side with their mentors, is a unique dynamic that we foster at ART BSA.
SUMMER ORCHESTRA CAMP - POK23
16. to 23. AUGUST 2023
Our Summer Orchestra Camp laid the foundation for young musicians and welcomed 97 talented participants aged 12 to 22. Thanks to the generous support of Krka d.d. and Sava Re d.d., young Slovenian musicians from the flooded areas as well as children from Ukraine who found refuge in Slovenia were able to participate in the camp free of charge. Their participation enriched our cultural offer and together they formed this year's Slovenian Youth Orchestra (SMO). The highlight of the week was a breathtaking concert on the large open-air stage Križanke in Ljubljana, where the world-famous artist Ute Lemper performed.
